My first week in Guatemala

So the next day, we were on the plane to Guatemala to meet daddy. I slept most of the time so before I knew we were at another airport.  Time to get our many bags, we were out and here he was! I recognize his voice straight away. There was another man, my uncle Octavio who drove us to our new house in Antigua.

This first week was full of events. First we’re learning to know each other with my dad. I like him; he’s gentle and always plays with me. I like his big voice. And he loves taking pictures of me so am I a star already? He talks to me in another language, Spanish they call it. That’s the language of Guatemala and I’m starting to understand. My mum speaks to me mostly in Spanish but I prefer when she’s talking in French as I don’t want to forget this language.

We stayed for a week in a small apartment then moved to another house bigger and with more light. I like to look at the sun entering the room and talk with the angels as says my dad. There is a beautiful garden and I like to go for a walk in the morning and listen to the birds. I have a big bed just for myself. I can’t sleep with mum anymore as daddy is with her. But that’s ok, I’m a grown up baby!

The hardest for me was the noise. I had spent 2 months in a quiet house with no outside noise and suddenly I’m surrounded by noise. It stressed me a bit the first two days then I got used to. Now I can sleep anytime. Mum says I’m Guatemalan so I have to get used to because there is noise everywhere here.

I have been eating and sleeping a lot, well it's very tired to grow up! But I'm still not letting my mum sleeping through the night. I love waking up at 6 am to listen to the birds! I took it from my dad surely!
